Cannot logon to portal (Sneak Preview Package)

Dear folks,

Half way through the installation of the <i>'SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Portal on MaxDB - Developer Edition - Sneak Preview Package'</i> I have hit an issue. I followed the quick installation guide and everything was successful up to end of poing 3 (Installing SAP Enterprise Portal 6.0 SP9). When it said "Verify that the installation succeeded by logging on to the portal http://localhost:50000/irj with user Administrator and password admin." it sounded like there were 2 options - either it works or it doesn't. And when I tried, it didn't work. IE 6.0 showed an error

message indicating "Page cannot be displayed. Cannot find server or DNS error."

Unfortunately I couldn't find a relevant solution to the issue in the forums of the developer network, nor on OSS.

I have already issued a message to OSS. While I am waiting for a response from OSS, I was wondering if anybody else ran into similar issues. If so, how did you solve them?
