Hi,

The SAPJVM has been updated successfully but it did not change the JAVA_HOME environment variable.

Do we have change it manually or it is not required anymore.

Please advice.

Thank You,

SS

Hello,

Did you update already existing SAP JVM version or did you replace/upgrade your JDK to SAP JVM ? I think yours is second case.

I don't think java_home is needed anymore in case of sap jvm, but profile parameter should be verified.

I hope you already have gone through the Notes -

Note 1611326 - Patching the SAP JVM 4.1 manually for NetWeaver 2004 and 7.0

Note 1495160 - SAP JVM as replacement for Partner JDKs 1.4.2

Thanks

Hi,

You mean JAVA_HOME at operating system level?? It wont be changed and you shouldn't change it. SAP JVM will be used for SAP but not for other programs running on the server.

Cheers,

Diego.

Hi,

This is not incorrect.

If you check what databaseSAP mentioned:

Note 1611326 - Patching the SAP JVM 4.1 manually for NetWeaver 2004 and 7.0.

You'll understand that there's no need to change JAVA_HOME at operating system level.

If you read carefully the other note:

"SAP developed its own Java Virtual Machine (JVM) 1.4.2, named SAP JVM 4 in order to ensure the guaranteed support for SAP Web Application Server 6.40 and SAP NetWeaver 7.0 systems."

SAP JVM is supposed to be used only for SAP NW and AS 6.40. If you change your JAVA_HOME at operating system, SAP JVM could be used for other java programs you run on the server. I'm pretty sure SAP won't support you on this...

Cheers,

Diego.

The JAVA_HOME is only applicable for non-SAP java applications after you switch to SAP JVM. The SAP JVM is part of the SAP kernel and the profile parameters SAPJVM_VERSION and DIR_SAPJVM ensure that SAP java applications use this JDK/JRE .
