New GL Accounting with Document Splitting

Dear Guru's,

The situation is like this, we are on ECC 6.0 with Package name SAPKH60018 and we went live 6 months back. New GL functionality is active in our system (Without Document Splitting). At the time of implementation Document splitting functionility was not activated since there was no requirement of Profit center wise balance sheet.

Now we want to activate document splitting functionality, I have already gone through many search helps and came across to know about the SAP Note 1086181 but in this note SAP Says it is only applicable to Release 600 and Package name SAPKH60012 (We are currently on SAPKH60018 ), when I try to implement this Note the system issues me error message "cannot be implemented".

We want to use the functionality of Document Splitting, can any one give me how I can carry out this change.

If you need to activate the Document splitting functionality in NewGL system then you need to go for

NewGL migration secnario -6

above is comes under NewGL migration

Hello Madhu,

Thanks for the updates, its really useful for my case.

I want to understand if in my current system EPH 4 pack is applied then can I activate docuement splitting in my test system on my own with taking SAP Cockpit?

What if we would like to create new company code in same server/ client will that be advisable and feasible/ possible to activate new GL and Document splitting functionality?

HI Sany,

NewGL cockpit is only meant for newGL migration only.

it is not available in your system you need to buy.

NewGL Migration is one seprate project.

In test system you can use there is no problem.

If you activate the Document spliting in your current prd system then

exiting open item while clearing getting errors and balances not tally.

Document splitting activation is client base and if you want one company code can deactivate.

According to your posts on WIKI regarding Document Splitting Wizards, statement

"There is new feature is called "Wizard: Configure Document Splitting" and "Wizard: Create Document Splitting Rule" It is introduced in ECC 6.0 version with Enhancement pack 4 (EhP 4)."

I want to ask you after I have applied the EhP 4 in my current system, can I activate the document splitting with out using SAP Cockpit?

New GL is already activated (with out document splitting ) in my production client.

Sany,

Document splitting you can activate at any time but if you activate in production system after golive then

exiting open item will get the doc splitting relates errors.

NewGL cockpit is avoid the above errors IF you use the migration secnario-6

wazard only to create document splitting configurations and it is tool

Document splitting can be activated in the production system but it will give error at the time of clearance of old open items.

to avoid this -

---

1) Clear all open item in the system available in production system. (With out document splitting environment)

2) Move document splitting config requests to production server and activate document splitting in production server.

3) Again upload open items which was cleared in the 1st step but this time WITH DOCUMENT SPLITTING ENVIRONMENT.

4) The only question remains here, what will happen if user tries to reverse the document in last Fiscal Year where there is no document splitting????

5) How system will behave if after Audit, user wants to post adjustment entries as suggested by Auditors in the last Fiscal Year (With out document splitting environment) will system allow or not?

Any other impacts we have to keep in mind for this...??

as far as i know, you should request SAP standard service to implement Document splitting (scenario 3), otherwise you cannot guarantee the data consistency for legacy data.
