Change the controlling area of internal order

We currently have an internal order say 6000012 assigned company code/ controlling area say 1000 / A900. We want to change the company code / controlling area of this internal order to 2000 / Z900 effective 01/01/.2012. Is it technically possible to do that? Does SAP allow to change the controlling area of an internal order
