Orgchart 3.0 doesn't show position hierarchy/detail due to (error) message?

Hi all,

at the moment we're implementing orgchart 3.0 (Product Version:7.0 Build Version:0700038500)

When using the wizard for setting the position view and details under organizational unit it provides the following

message/warning on the "profile"step as shown in the below link.

http://dc459.4shared.com/img/EW1Zf8-Y/s7/0.7417648190801285/screencap.PNG

This results in missing details for positions when publishing the build.

All the transports (ABAP and add on package have been imported and all included tables, views fm's are available.

Included an error log which is related to this issue?

697. 29 nov 2011 15:45:20 ERROR com.nakisa.Logger - com.nakisa.integration.sap.BuildingBlocks : while trying to invoke the method org.w3c.dom.Node.getNodeType() of an object loaded from local variable 'node'

698. 29 nov 2011 15:45:20 ERROR com.nakisa.Logger - java.lang.NullPointerException: while trying to invoke the method org.w3c.dom.Node.getNodeType() of an object loaded from local variable 'node'

699. 29 nov 2011 15:45:20 ERROR com.nakisa.Logger - Nakisa.SAP.SAPProcessor.BAPI_Hroci : while trying to invoke the method com.nakisa.framework.data.DataTable.select(java.lang.String) of an object loaded from local variable '<6>'

700. 29 nov 2011 15:45:20 ERROR com.nakisa.Logger - java.lang.NullPointerException: while trying to invoke the method com.nakisa.framework.data.DataTable.select(java.lang.String) of an object loaded from local variable '<6>'

The orgchart can be accessed and a structure is show on O level

but when trying to get in depth on position hierarchy we dont see any details or structure.

Any idea what might be the problem/issue and how to solve this?

Thanks in advance

Carlos

Hi Carlos,

You are using the SMP build which contains quite a few bugs. I highly recommend that you contact SAP Support for the latest version and I strongly recommend that you implement 3.0 SP2 (the build you have deployed is 3.0 without any SPs). SAP Support will supply the latest version of the build upon request.

Luke,

thanks for your helpful and quick response.

Still have some additional questions/queries:-) as this is the first time we

try to implement orgchart.

So if I'm correct we need to undeploy the current SMP build of Nakisa 3.0

and deploy the latest build with SP2?

Or can we just deploy the latest build on our NWCE without any issues?

Regarding the 3.0 SP2 is this included in the latest build or do we need to download thisseperate from the SMP?

Can we resuse the current orgchart config builds in the latest build or is it advisable to configure

orgchart with a clean build?

Thanks in advance

Regards,

Carlos

Hi Carlos,

You need to undeploy the existing application and deploy the new applicaiton.

Regarding the 3.0 SP2 is this included in the latest build or do we need to download this seperate from the SMP?

It is a seperate application. I recommend getting the latest build from OSS as the build on SMP will be the first release of SP2 and bug fixes have been made to that build since it was uploaded on SMP.

Can we resuse the current orgchart config builds in the latest build or is it advisable to configure orgchart with a clean build?

You should reconfigure using the default build in SP2. In 3.0 pre-SP1 configuration cannot be used with SP1 or SP2.

Luke,

do you mean we request the latest SP2 also from SAP support when you talk about getting the latest build from OSS?

I'm confused as normally we get it from the SMP but what's OSS (different link?).

Also to check with you, do we need to apply 3.0 SP1 as well first or is this not necessary?

Thanks,

Carlos

Hi Carlos,

do you mean we request the latest SP2 also from SAP support when you talk about getting the latest build from OSS?

I'm confused as normally we get it from the SMP

When a client first wants to deploy an SOVN or STVN product they must download it from SMP. They do not have to deploy this, but they must download it (for SAP tracking purposes). They can then request the latest build from OSS. The latest builds are not put on SMP because each time they would have to go through Premium Qualification and it doesn't provide any value for this to happen when a new build is released every 2 weeks (for every version of 3.0 applications).

what's OSS

OSS (Online Service System) is SAP Support. You raise an OSS message via SMP to request the latest build (under component XX-PART-NKS) and SAP Support will respond to the OSS message.

do we need to apply 3.0 SP1 as well first or is this not necessary?

You do not need to apply SP1 first. Each SP is actually an entire application so you just download the latest SP available (SP2 in this case) and deploy it.

Luke

Only the initial release is put on SMP. Fixes are applied and released in updated builds which are released via SAP Support (OSS).

Here is the latest builds I know of (both recent):

3.0 (no SP) - Build 0700056800

3.0 SP2 - Build 0702023900

To implement SP2 build you do not need to implement any previous versions (just un-deploy old version first).

BUT please not the Add On and Transport changed from 3.0 build 0700046500 so using either of the above links will require you to install the Add On - see OSS ([http://service.sap.com/notes]) note 1589536.

Stephen/Luke,

thanks again for the helpful info.

Additionally I have some questions about the best way forward.

Stephen,

Is it better for us to raise just an OSS message with SAP to request for the link to the latest builds of Nakisa orgchart 3.0 SP2?

Or is it safe to assume the provided links are safe to use:-)

Referring to the note you included it specifies that the ABAP add on package and transport package from SP1 need to be re-applied? or only the ABAP addon?

Will it cause any conflicts as we already applied the add on and transport coming along with our current build.

Or can we just import the transports for SP1 addittionally?

Thanks in advance.

Carlos

Usually you should raise an OSS to get the latest build and they will send you a link very similar to those posted by Stephen. It is likely that those links are quite recent so they should be okay to use right now. For future imlementations always raise an OSS.

Referring to the note you included it specifies that the ABAP add on package and transport package from SP1 need to be re-applied? or only the ABAP addon?

For your build you will have the 3.0 ABAP add-on and Nakisa Transport Package (NTP). For 3.0 SP2 you must apply the SP1 ABAP add-on and NTP. You should download the SP1 package from SMP and check the ABAP add-on and NTP documentation as this specifies which version to use depending on your system and if you already have an ABAP add-on and NTP implemented.

Luke

Both my sapmats links came from SAP support in the last week, so good to use.

RE: Add ON ... as I said, see the OSS (http://service.sap.com/notes) note 1589536. There is a specific package in each of the 2 installs (Add On and Transport) for upgrading from the older versions. See the installation guides included with the packages.

Stephen/Luke thanks for the helpful information once again.

I keep repeating myself I noticed:-)

We already raised an OSS message.

Another question, is there a language pack already available for 3.0 SP2?

is there a language pack already available for 3.0 SP2?

It should be out in Q1 2012. It will probably be released with SP3 and the Language Pack for SP3.
