Dear All,

My Solution Manager (SAP EHP 1 for Solution Manager 7.0) is running on AIX, Oracle 10.2.0.2.0.Today there was an issue with our Oracle and we got the errors below:-

BR0002I BRARCHIVE 7.00 (24)

BR0006I Start of offline redo log processing: achvepey.sve 2011-11-29 12.20.01

ORA-27140: attach to post/wait facility failed

BR0310W Connect to database instance SMM failed

The redo logs are not being copied to ussaab87:/onedaylogs and the logs are not being copied off to tape.

When we checked the Trace Data via ST11 for dev_w8 we encountered the below:-

Error connection to partner 'loopback:0' broken.

The above error usually indicates issues with local host file entry.

The hosts file has not been updated for quite some time. However, there is a file under /oracle/SMM/102_64/dbs/initSMM.ora that was changed on 11-Nov.Could this recent change in the initSMM.ora cause all this issue.

For now,SAP is up and running with no issues just that now we are concern that it will impact usage of the system if archive logs fills up the File Systems.

Hopefully someone would be able to shed some light on this one.

Looking forward to reply.

Thanks.

John.
