Query on Windows Mobile connectivity.

Hi All,

We are using the windows Mobile Professional SDK 6. We install the CAB file SUPMessaging_Pro.cab to install the sybase settings for getting the simulator connected to the SUP server.

Everytime I create a device in the Sybase Control Center and get it connected to my simulator and it shows online in the SCC.

Then if the device gets disconnected some how and I want to once again connect to the server using the same device it doesnt allow it.

It gives us an error saying Wrong device for code. We can never reuse a single device once it has gone offline(in the Sybase Control Center).

I wanted to know that is this the functionality of windows mobile or what can we do to over come it .

Thanks,

Krutheeka.

hi

This error is caused by the device using the same user name as another device. SUP won't allow more than one device to connect with the same user name.

This can be an issue with simulators - if you connect with a simulator, then trash the simulator and then re-connect with another simulator instance (which has a different unique identifier) but do NOT delete the user registered previously, the new simulator won't connect because it is using a new device ID, but with the same user id.

Go into SCC and clean out the user entry and reconnect. Then always ensure you preserve simulator state to keep simulator IDs constant across restart.

Hope that helps

chris
