We are building a report in BOBJ comparing hours logged in two different systems (ie by consultants in timesheets and by internal in resourcing plan). Both sets of data are held in BW so we able to create a report showing discrepancies between these two sets of data, however we have hit a brick wall in looking for a way to write selected data from the timesheet cube into the resourcing cube based the findings of our exception reports. A requirement is that the data must not be automatically written but must have the option for selected data only to be pushed into the resourcing cube and overwrite the equivalent data at the internal team's discretion.
Consultant Project X Days M Tu W Th F
Timesheets 8 8 4 8 8
Resourcing 4 4 8 8 8
In this case the internal team would want to write the timesheet data for Monday and Tuesday over the data stored in the Resourcing cube. However they would want to keep Wednesday as it is and investigate the reason for the discrepancy manually. Thursday and Friday match so there would be no need to consider this information. So a general rule would be is if Timesheets > Resourcing then Write, if Timesheets < Resourcing then leave and investigate, and if Timesheets = Resourcing then ignore.
I suppose I really have two questions to ask on this;
1 - Is it possible to have this functionality in a BOBJ report if all the data is stored in BW?
2 - Would we better served using an alternative reporting tool? EG importing all the data into BPC and doing the reporting and writing back within BPC?
I apologise for the long winded question and I hope I have explained myself thoroughly enough. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
