Hi,
I am new to this community and was really motivated to put up my posts after seeing the responses on other questions.
While uploading a contract in a master agreement, the contract document type (Contract, Amendment and Addendum) is given as drop down list. I want to create a localized resource for the contract document type (Contract, Amendment and Addendum) since i couldn't find it in the system. Following are my doubt.
1. While creating localized resources, for other languages in the system "Value" field has been greyed out. (For eg if i want to provide the german translation of "Contract" in the system i.e "Vertragsdokument", i am not able to do it, only the value override field is active)
2. If i provide the translation, would it automatically reflect in the system or do i need to assign this manually.
I have system administrator rights and the localized resource is not defined for those values in the system.
Hi,
I dont think you need to go the Localized resource route for accomplishing this requirement.
Simply goto Setup --> Document Setup and pull up the Contract document types under contract documents. Here you will see the available contract doc types available in your system. if you want to rename Contract to Vertragsdokument, then just edit and rename the Name field to Vertragsdokument.
Additionally if you want more contract doc types available to the user, just click on the Create button and populate the fields for new contract doc types to be created.
I am assuming this is what you want to achieve.
Hope this helps,

Hi Vikram,
Thanks for the reply but this is not what i's looking for.
I have done the changes which you have mentioned in your reply.
Ideally the contract document type should act as a label, and not a free text. But i guess it is not so in the system.
Can we assign Localized Resource to fields? (for eg, the contract type name Contract should appear as Vertragsdokument for user who have been assigned German as their default language. However this is not the case. In such a situation, I need to assign the translation of Contract. I can create a new localized resource but i do not know how to assign it. Is there a method of assigning it?)
Hi,
In Sourcing 5.1 you don't have support for provisioning mulitiple names for the same document type. Localization is supported for master data, including doc types is supported starting 7.0.
Hence unfortunately you cannot have different text for different contract types, as is the case for material/vendor display names
Thanks,
Baski
