Change Default Item Category in PM Order


Dear PM Experts,

In our clients system, Item category(IC) L - Stock Item is default for all PM order types when creating an Order and IC field get freeze once enter the material, Qty details.

However if Availability Check found that the requested material is unavailable., User has to delete the entered line item and have to re enter the requirement with N - Non Stock Item in the IC field.

How should i change the configuration in order to allow change the IC field (i.e. re enter N as IC type)..?
