DP selection vs SNP selection

Hi all,

In DP when any selection is made cvcs are responsible in background for that selection. That means if no cvc exists for the selection made no data will be loaded. How about SNP? we do not create any cvc in SNP then how selections know the data for that particular combination? I would really appreciate your help.

Thanks,

Neha

Hello Neha,

The master data for DP and SNP are kind of different. We always maintain CVCs explicity in /sapapo/mc62 for the use of DP, however for SNP, it is using the so-called "SNP master data" which is automatically generated for each planning area from the APO master data (like location, product, resource, PPM/PDS and transportation lane, etc.). I think note 1331576 is good for understanding the SNP master data. To understand SNP master data, the concept "aggregate" is quite important I think.

Hi Ada,

Thanks for the quick reply. And thanks for answering my ques everytime I ask. I went through the OSS note you suggested. But I am still lit bit confused. Let em rephrase my question. If I pull up any selection in DP plng book cvcs are responsible for data loading in background. e.g. SHow : APO Product; Produt: P1; Location: L1. In this example data will be loaded for all cvcs containg location L1 and product P1. what if I do the same in SNP plng book and what will be the reason behind the data correctly loaded for this combination since there are no cvs in SNP.

Thanks,

Neha

Hi Neha,

Whenever we create/ transfer master data for the SNP, we will assign it to planning model and/or version. When you initiate the SNP planning area for the planning version, the data for the changed/ newly created master data is adjusted. When you do the transaction data addition to the SNP master data in the planning book, the transaction data is stored in live cache memory allocated for the SNP master data.

Instead of creating CVCs in SNP, we are assigning the SNP master data to the planning version/ model, from which the transaction data is correctly fetched while you load the selection in the planning book.

hi,

continuing to the explanation of manimaran, this activity of moving/transfer data to SNP is done using CIF models and they can be scheduled in the background for automatic updates..
