Orders via CTP confirming, even when Component not available

Hello All,

We use the CTP process while creating Orders, with Block Planning & an Immediate Planning procedure for FG & the SFG. To-date, our process has been to get Sales Order confirmation ONLY when the system could return a successful availability @ the FG (the Resource on which the FG is planned is Infinitely capacity) & the SFG, ( the Resource for the SFG is Block Planned) level.

However, recently, we've started observing that the system confirms the Sales Orders even when its unable to get the SFG Block date or its unable to create an Order for the SFG. This is a dangerous proposition & we don't want that to happen.

Any ideas for the cause of this behavior?

We use ECC 6.0 with SCM7.0.

Thanks in advance

    Hi Andy,

May be I am asking very basic thing which you might have already checked still

Have you checked whether it has pegged to stocks with matching charcterisitcs or some stocks available with unspecified chacteristics.

As CTP will return the date based on block date.

    • Hi Santosh,

Yes, I've checked. The ATP logs suggest that the system gyrated thru the different sources of supply for the SFG (to be made on the block) & it could not meet the required availability date, as per the block available capacity.

I've enough block capacity on the Resources. Question to me is, not why the Block was not picked when capacity was available, its more that, how the system provided a confirmation to the FG Sales Order, when the ATP logs for the SFG suggest that it is not available on time.

Can you check the settings for the SFG in the product master in APO.

On tab PP/DS you must have PP Plng Procedure 3 Cover Dependent Requirements Immediately

    or a copy of that.
