hello
We've installed SAP NW04 sneakpreview with MaxDB 7.5 on Fedore Core 2. The installation seems to be OK but when we try to connect to NW4 with SAPGUI, we get a shortdump DBIF_RSQL_INVALID_REQUEST.
In nw4adm home directory, in the file startsap_.log, there's the following error :
Checking ADA db Database
-
ABAP Database is not available via R3trans
Checking ADA db Database

J2EE Database is not available via test
Starting SAP-Collector Daemon

saposcol already running
Running /usr/sap/NW4/SYS/exe/run/startdb
/usr/sap/NW4/SYS/exe/run/startdb completed successfully

ABAP Database is running
and in the JdbcCon.log file, there's the error :
Error: Couldn't connect to DB
com.sap.dbtech.jdbc.exceptions.JDBCDriverException: SAP DBTech JDBC: Cannot connect to jdbc:sapdb://nw4hos
t/NW4 [Reply is garbled.].
the server seems to be OK. R3check -d is OK.
Java version is 1.4.2_04
when we stop NW4, there's no error in JdbcCon.log :
Start: Thu Apr 07 11:25:22 CEST 2005
OK: connected to NW4 on jdbc/pool/NW4
OK: disconnected
Stop: Thu Apr 07 11:25:24 CEST 2005
Thanks for your help.
Sometimes it happens if you are not using it as a standalone server. If you server is not on a LAN then first connect it to LAN.

Hello,
my Server is connected to the LAN. When starting i get the following error:
Error: java.io.FileNotFoundException: JdbcCon.log (Permission denied)
J2EE Database is not available via test
See logfile JdbcCon.log
I checked all the log files and can't understand why permissions are missing. Any idea?
I can connect locally via the SAPGui, but not from a remote client.
Thanks for any help
