Java instance requirement

Dear all

We are implementing sap Business objects edge 3.1 our current system is sap ECC6 with EHP5 ( only abap instance ) + Bw ( In same machine BW in Ecc6 and worked as a client ) we have BOBJ server for Linux ( other then ECC6 servers, 3 system landscape BDV,BQA,QPD) my queries is

1. Any requirement of java instance ? because from Netweaver 7 there is no abap+java

And we do not have any specific machine to install java instance Bobj person say he need java instance in BW , I donu2019t know why, he is not satisfied me .

2. What is the best practice for BW landscape? because it is default installed with ECC6 ,

If SAP Best practices spread BW server then why SAP bundle it into within ECC6

If all load taken by BW then what is the load in bobj repository or there is minimum load into bobj server.

that means we want to used xcelsius we required BW java instance in our 3.1 edge bobj .

what is the function of BW publisher .

BW Publisher helps to save crystal reports in SAP BW Server ( You can also directly save crystal to BOBJ Server).

By storing the object into BW the Crystal Report object becomes a transportable object and you can use the standard SAP transport mechanism to transport the report from your DEV to QA to PROD system.

In addition you can use the translation mechanism from SAP BW.

I can't understand

We will used Xcellsius ,crystal reports WEBI

and please also help in which link I download patches to update my bobj edge 3.1

Hi Shahid,

Latest requirement, BOBJ has many tools like Crystal Reports, XCelsius, Webi Reports, Desktop Intelligence. One of the client XCelsius which required BI Java.

Hi Shahid,

BOBJ doesn't need JAVA to be installed on BW. We have our environments setup with BOBJ 2.7 upgraded to 3.6 with BW ABAP only.

You can check with, what functionality he is looking for BW JAVA. Example, In our case, there was a latest requirement for BOBJ XCelsius which required BI Java, We have configured BW ABAP and our current portal for XCelsius and working fine for us.
