Hello
I recently executed an OS/DB migration to move the client ECC system off from Unix to Linux running on Oracle. The CI/DB is running fine. Now the client wants to install 2 Dialog Instances on 2 separate physical servers. While trying to install the DI on the second box the SAPINST process is complaining about mismatching UID of the SIDadm user on the CI/DB and the app servers. It does nto allow to continue despite the permissions on the /sapmnt/SID folder being 775. Please advise. Thanks.
Pankaj
I have to install 2 DI's on 2 different servers and the UID of the sidadm user is different there as well so changing the UID to 2100 across the board is not going to be possible since that is assigned to 2 users which own the 2 other SAP applications. I would have to somehow find a solution to work with different UID's only through group permissions. Please advise.

Hi Pankaj,
Can you please clarify this "since that is assigned to 2 users which own the 2 other SAP applications"?
This avoid this kind of problems, we use to maintain same GID & UID of SIDADM on all servers (CI & DI).
If you can't change UID to 2100, please check with OS team that SIDADM is assigned to 2105 on both DI servers at OS level.
Thanks,
Siva Kumar

Hi,
As a general principle UID/GID of the users should be same in a system. The user ID (UID) and group ID (GID) of SAP users and groups must be identical for all servers belonging to the same SAP system.
You can also check below link:
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/87/80d13fa69a4921e10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm
Now, you have to change UID/GID of the user to same on all instances. You can check below link for the same:

Thanks

The UID is different for the sidadm user on the CI/DB and the app server. It is 2100 on the CI while 2105 on the app server. Is this permitted somehow or not at all....

Hi Pankaj,
Though /sapmnt/SID has 775 permissions, SIDADM must have created with proper UID. Please compare UID of SIDADM with the server where it does not have any problem or reach out to your OS team for correct UID.

Siva Kumar
