Reports are note retreieved by the application if opened in Crystal Report

Hi to all.

I am trying to modify one report used by an application I use. The application is made with .NET and, when I launch a preview or a print of this report, the report is not loaded if it is already opened in Crystal Report. To have it loaded, I must close it from Crystal.

Some time ago (july 2011), this was not a problem. I don't know if .NET version is changed or if Crystal is upgraded. I have CR Developer 12.2.0.290 version installed and the application runs under .NET frameworks from 2 to 4. In tehs erver machine are also installed CR Basic Runtime for V.S. 2008 and C.R 11_5 NetSetup.

Does anybody know if I can try previews whit RPT opened in C.R ?

Many Thanks.

You should be able to. I am not aware of this being a problem with CR 2008 (12.x). There was an issue like this with CR2010, but SP2 solved that. Lets' see what SP4 for CR 2008 does for you:

SP4

Hello,

Are you using Visual Studio 2010 and Cr for VS 2010? Assembly version will be 13.x.x.x. VS 2010 is the only version that supports 4.0 Framework.

This is a known issue with CR for VS 2010 but not with any other version. SP2 for CR for VS 2010 fixed this problem.

If you are not using VS 2010 and CR for VS 2010 then look at your Anti-virus logs or other logs, CR should not be locking the report.

See the home page for Crystal Reports for .NET to get Service Pack 2, same info as before, just the links have been updated to download SP2.

Hi.

The application is not mine, I only use it. They say that VS 2010 is used, with CR 2008.

I upgraded my CR to sp4 but nothing changed.

Many thanks.

VS 2010 is not compatible to work with CR 2008, Use [CR for VS 2010|CystlR%2528SAPWeblogs%253ACrystal+Reports%2529]

You need to go to the makers of the application and ask them for help. Simply applying patches will likely break their app or not affect it at all.

And they need to explain why it's failing to open your reports. Not knowing what the app is doing or what CR runtime it's using makes it impossible to debug the issue.

Thanks
