Hi Team,

I have created the BOM with item category T (Text Item) and item category L (Stock Item). I have marked the BOM component (item category L, Stock Item) with "Phantom".

Now i have created the production order using this BOM. And i have released the order. But no reservation been created. Is reservation will be created for phatom items and text items?

Kindly explain

thanks

psk

Dear PSk,

Since its a phantom item, there should be no Order Reservation for it or any stocks/receipts etc..

maintain in material master the phantom indicator (special procurement type 50) is set before the plan order is created. If so then execute in the Production Order "read PP master data". Check your master data, as well as the BOM if the explosion type has Phantom indicator "off".

Dear PSK,

During production order creation reservation gets generated only for the stock item, that's only for the BOM components with

item category "L".

For the assemblies that are marked as phantom assembly using special procurement key 50,then the system consumes the

components of the pahantom assemblies and not directly the phantom assembly, which means the phantom assembly will be

containing a BOM in which the components and the required quantity will be maintained,

So during order confirmation the system consumes only the components of the pahantom assembly and this is because no

stock for for phantom assembly will be maintained .

During MRP run also the system creates PR/Planned orders only for the components of the phantom assembly and not for the

phantom assembly.

Check and revert back.

Hi,

When you tick on Phantom item on BOM, it means you consider BOM item as Phantom assembly.

Phantom item is sub-assembly in the BOM that does not actually exist in inventory. It is used to simplify the BOM. Although the phantom item appears in the BOM, the Production Order will show the components needed to make the phantom item rather than the phantom item itself.

For example, you manufacture a Finish Good A with component A1, A2, A3. You define A2 as phantom assembly with sub-components A21, A22 (these components are not phantom assembly).

Then when you create production order for FG A then reservation will be created for A1, A21, A22, A3. Because A2 is phantom item, No reservation is created for it.

Hope you are clear with phantom item.
