Clicking on expense reports in "uwl"displays blank page

Dear Team,

*In Approval list for UWL screen while clicking on the record for travel request or travel expense it should actually display pdf form to show the details of either travel request or travel expense but it not displaying the pdf instead it is showing blank white page " . only reject and approve button on it.

My concern is what manager and delegate should aaprove or reject if they are not seeing any content .

Pdf is not loading.

when i replicated this same thing in dev with same roles of user (manger and delegate)its working completely fine for both of them.

I am very much new to portal.

Dont know why is it not working for the user.

Please help to find the solution.

this issue is not face by managers but it is face by delegates.

could this be because of substitution rules of delegates??

could this be because of browser setting unabling PDF to load to portal??

Its not giving any error but showing white blank page.

many users are facing this issue.

And according to your solution which xml file i need to re-register?

Hi Pallavi!

From what you have described to me on your last update in the thread, it seems that somehow the scenario is working for some users (managers), but shows the problem for other users (delegates). Let me know if my understanding is incorrect.

Regarding the blank white page which is shown, it seems that maybe there is an error specifically occuring with showing the PDF, because you have told me that the Approve and Reject buttons are shown within the screen, meaning that UWL is launching the iview as it is supposed to be configured on it. The problem is only in regards to the PDF not getting displayed.

I don't believe that this can be related to any substitution rules which can be enabled for the delegates, but it would be also worth to take any substitution out of the game and check if the issue still occurs, in order to isolate about that.

There is a chance of this being caused by something regarding browser settings, making the load of the PDF unavailable.

It would be worth checking by taking an HTTP Watch trace and checking to see if any HTTP error code appears for any of the calls which are done. Try cleaning the browser cache and check if this changes anything.

Regarding your question of which xml file you need to re-register, I don't know what exactly is the system from where the issued items come from. You should get this information by enabling the UWL Support Information:

Once the Support Information is enabled, you can access UWL and select one of the issued items. Technical information will get displayed below, where you'll be able to see which is the system (connector) from where the item is coming from. Then you can go to the UWL Admin page and re-register that particular connector, in order for the item definitions to be retrieved and regenerated from the backend.

Take this into consideration and try to check if you can get things resolved

Hi Pallavi,

We have the similiar situation. The travel requet form is blank when users try to open it from UWL.

This only happen to dev system and only happen when users try to modify the travel request form which was rejected by a travel coordinator or manager. I am wondering if you have found your solution and if you can give us some suggestion. Your help will be appreciated!

Dear Pallavi

As you related in the description of your scenario, when you replicated the same steps in the DEV environment the same functionallity within UWL worked as expected.

This makes me to believe that the wrong behavior can be occuring due to something related to a difference between the XML file regarding the UWL settings for the particular task type to which the issued task belongs.

There could exist a difference between the relevant XML file at the productive environment when comparing with the one from DEV. In order to ensure that the XML file has been correctly retrieved from the backend and also ensure that it has the most updated information from the task visualization parameters at the backend, you could try clicking in the Re-Register option for the relevant connector within the UWL Administration page in the portal, as this will re-generate the XML file from scratch. UWL will connect to the backend and retrieve the task types parameters, generating the XML file again.

In order to proceed with this, go to System Administration -> System Configuration -> Universal Worklist & Workflow -> Universal Worklist - Administration. After having reached this page, click in the Re-Register button for the issued connector (the one relating to the system from where the issued items come from).
