Copy of data to development system ?

At the moment we are investigating TDMS as a possible sollution for a copy of data to development system.

Since we can't make a mandant copy in the normal way since there are structural differences between production and development.

I found this topic that says that sender client and receiver needs to be the same.

I was wondering if this would refer to the entire client or if it is possible to exclude certains areas of development system in the check.

Is it also possible to transfer data of the tables that remained standard and exclude the structures that are enhanced on development ?

kind regards

Arthur

TDMS activity "Execute consistency checks" gives you details of structural differences between sender and receiver systems.

Based on the details given by TDMS, You can fix them before going ahead with Data Transfer.

Then it should be fine.

Thanks and Regards,

The issue is the same doing a client copy or using TDMS. If you have structural differences in the systems there will be issues.

Best way is try to start the package under System Analysis the activity u201CExecute Consistency Checksu201D checks for repository differences between the sender and receiver systems, FIX those before you proceed further .

We just finished our SAP dev system refresh successfully for ECC,BW and CRM.

No transaction code but just execute the client copy in "test mode", then you will get a log with differences if there are any.

It is generally recommended that the repository on the source and target system should be in sync.

However in case you are not to bring the two system to such a state, you may still go ahead with your TDMS transfer and then during the TDMS process you will be notified about all the tables which are inconsistent. The you may either decide to remove the table inconsistency or mark the table for no transfer of data. In later case the data of the marked table will not be transferred at all.

For standard objects which have been enhanced (for ex. new fields added) in the development system it should not be an issue as data for the fields which are consistent will be transferred.
