Hi,

I am Pretty new to this domain. i want to know some basic functionality on CS processing. As i know we are make use of equipment master for the warranty related information and against this we are creating notification. My question is can we take serial number as reference object and is there any why in which the equipment master can be automated with all the sales information to avoid the data entry process. Please apologies in case you find the question meaning less.

With Regards

Hi Sen,

You can definitely full fill the requirement by defining the Document for of your choice(activating the Sales View and other Views as per your requirement)

Then you can use the LSMW> Standard Batch /Direct Input>

using the Object as 0400 and Methord as 0001(Create).

Or you can take the help of an ABAP,er and wright a BDC via Recording in SHDB and.

One More Important thing, Serial No can not act as the Refrence Object, Serial No is used to seriliaze the Material with an Equipment, but cant take the Place of an Equipment.

Hope it will help you.

Hi ,

I think we have to do it manually and if you really want to follow the automation you can go as he mentioned before.IF you assign the serial number at the sales order level i guess you will be getting the sales information in your equipment mater but equipment should be created before that .

Hi,

Welcome to the FORUM.

Yes It should be possible. as follows:

As you are Maintaining Serial Number profile, you would have assigned to Material Master , in that there is an option to check for automatic Equipment creation, so when you make delivery with serial No. you mention Serial No. in "Extras" > Serial No. Field. (in VL01N), In the Display Box after entering the serial no. Please check the "Eqpt" Box, This enables you to get equipment created automatically, then you do PGI, billing.

So We can control w.r.t Serial No. for the Equipments at Sales order level, or even at Delivery level.

Now In order to Update your equipment details you try with "LSMW" use either "VA01u201D (Ref, Sales order) or "VL01N" (Ref. Delivery Doc.) Here you do proper Field Mapping for the required sales details including Serial No.s etc.

Hope this should work out.

Hey Srinivasa Rao,

This is so interesting for such a beautiful explanation. Could you explain if the LSMW is not in place we have to manually do it for all the sales item so while delivery i assigned the serial number. Then i need to activate the equipment view for capturing all the information. what so tried by IQ08 and there i could not find the equipment .i felt like something missing in this process i tried or understood.Could you tell me how the process is need to be carried out after the delivery or invoice.

As mentioned by DSR, activate serial number profile for materials. While creating delivery, it will create equipments.

In serial number profile config, mention the equipment category (generally customer equipments). Also if you want to sync between serial number & equipment number, select option 1 in Serlevel field in General Plant Data / Storage 2 view.

Hi,

I am not very sure, but I belive that serial number is not a valid reference object. By the other hand, always that you create a serial number, really you are creating a equipment too (system create it internally but you can not see). If you activate the equipment view from serial number transaction, you can see its associated equipment number.

So, I think serial number is not a valid reference object, but it is not a problem because you have without any additional information a equipment number.

About sales information, I do not know.

Regards.
