Asset master data issue

HI All

While i am creating the asset through AS01 with out giving the useful life in depriciation tab

its not allowing me to save

can anybody tell me where do i need to make this field as optional

PS: i have already checked the screen layout of this asset master and i havent found anything relating to depreciation tab

But for my asset class we have not assigned any depreciation area screen layout

Please guide me

Select screen layout 1000 and click on field group rules

make optional for the field useful life.

Before doing settings as per Murali said, go to OAYZ select your Asset class and double click on depreciation areas then populate with 1000 layout then go to AO21 do the settings as optional

HI All

While simulating the issue in quality(where same settings have been maintained( wrt OAYZ, AO21), In asset master, neither the EXp. UL field is diplayed, nor promts for value when trying to change. Only in Production the error is there.

Any specific reasons? We thouroughy compared screen layout for asset master and depricaition both and there is not defference.

You might have selected Straight-line depreciation class for your depreciation key.

Please check it in AFAMA.

Both in quality and Production both are not using same stright line dep method

and there is no difference

Please check the following fields in AO21

Expired useful life

Exprd Life -Periods

If these are mandatory then make them optional and try.
