#HANA & #Mobility gurus,
How to consume the HANA data into mobile apps? Does this integration need Gateway? SUP? Afaria? All of these?
Where does the BI 4.0 comes into picture?
Is there a 'how to' document available to integrate HANA with Mobility?
Thanks
Manish Madhav
Dear Manish,
HANA to BI 4.0 connection is Quite straight forward, using IDT or Universe with ODBC ( HANA Client) connection.
SAP have roadmap for Mobile applications tight integration to Sybase IQ, NetwaverGateway, Odata services.
Direct HANA you are unable to connect Mobile Applications, you need NW gateway.
So I am assumption you can NW gateway through BW on HANA, after that you use REST services and ODP.
Check this diagram you can understand whole flow.
Thanks

Dear Rao,
Thanks. Was away for few days, now back here to the thread.
Most of the answers I see are talking about HANA to BI 4.0 integration, which is yes, quite straightforward.
Let me explain the scenario. We have:
- SAP HANA 1.0 SP02, integrated with BI 4.0 BO-DS, and IDES
- Stand alone (not integrated) Afaria, NW Gateway and Sybase Unwired too.
Question is not to integrate HANa with BI 4.0, it is more to make talk: the HANA-> BI4.0 (do we always need it?) -> Gateway -> Afaria -> SUP.
An wholistic view is not available, and seems like it is the case indeed. It is the logical convergance, but not yet arrived?

Dear Manish,
as we already know HANA is DB and it wouldn't recognize any web services. so currently don't have that scenario what you mentioned for Mobility.
But, with in short time we can found like
HANA -> NGAP->NW Gateway -
> Mobility.
Still NGAP is on developing situation, once it was available NGAP handle Hana Models and tables, from NGAP to make it HTTP services or REST.
check this pdf file, you get some idea, at present only we can use Sybase IQ for Mobility.
thanks
Rao
NGAP is short for "Next Generation ABAP Platform", working title for a version of the NW ABAP server that is optimized for building business applications on top of a HANA Database (in ABAP). Not yet available...
Regarding your original question, it is possible to connect SUP to HANA via the JDBC interface. That should be the easiest way to build mobile apps on HANA today
Later versions of HANA may include an ODATA interface, so you can talk to your tables and models in the same way you talk to NW Gateway. It won't require a Gateway system, it will just look like one from a protocol point of view. No definite roadmap published as far as I know, so take this information with the appropriate amount of salt...

Hello,
Is there a 'how to' document available to integrate HANA with Mobility?
Instructions how to connect BOBJ can be found in SAP BOBJ Data Access Guide:

Hello,

I do not know how about other technologies but in our demo we connected BOBJ so that is proven for sure. Gateway should also work as it was presented during TechEd 2010 in Berlin.
Where does the BI 4.0 comes into picture?
BOBJ can serve as main gateway into HANA. You can define set of universes against views and then you can do anything BOBJ can do (Xcelsius, Web Intelligence, etc.) You can also use BOBJ Mobile on top of this.
