We are running CR2008 and have just had a server move. There has been no problem until the final adjustment which was to update all the printer drivers to work with a 64 bit server.
Now when we try to access Print or Page Setup, we get the error message "crw32.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close." and the program crashes.
We have uninstalled fully and reinstalled with no effect.
Luckily the export function is not affected so we can export to pdf and print, but its a nuisance.
Moved to Report Designer Forum, your question has nothing to do with Database connectivity...
CR 2008 is a 32 bit application and therefore requires ALL 32 bit dependencies. Install the 32 bit print drivers and then it should all work.

Many thanks. This has led me to remove all the printers and try adding them one-by-one. One of them is the culprit and the IT company we use said they had trouble finding the right driver as it was an old printer.
Anyway your comment prompted the finding of the right solution.
