The material no. is longer than the length set' at CONVERSION_EXIT_MATN1_IN

Hi Experts,

I am trying to load data into info object 0Material using flat file. While loading attribute data, after activation of data source whenever i click on the "Read Preview Data" it throws error as : "'The material number is longer than the length set' at conversion exit CONVERSION_EXIT_MATN1_INPUT (field MATERIAL record 1, value IPL34555555580)"

FYI: the maximum length of any data in the source file is 15. and it is alphanumeric. i.e. IPL34555555580

I checked in the FM and in the table TMCNV(Data on Material Numbers Conversion) and they have set the material lenght to 18.

Please help.

Hi Niranjan,

It seems like all values prior to material number are getting concatenated to material number field only.

Before previewing data just check your file format and check what is the data separator you have maintained in Data source and IP settings.

If possible try to recreate your file in specified format. Many times if file format is not correct then all the data values are considered only in one column.

My source file is in .csv and even if i create new .csv file and try to load then also it is throwing the same error. And i use , (comma) as a separator.

I didn't get your comment "It seems like all values prior to material number are getting concatenated to material number field only"

Hi Neeraj,

Generally if your source file is not in correct format, or say if your separator is not maintained properly. Then in the preview it shows all the data in single column but as in your case the preview is giving error because it has got some length restrictions.

As you said you have properly maintained the length of all the materials in file, I am not sure what is causing you this error.
