hi Guru's
can u PLEASE tell me what is the diff. between Procurement of raw material & Consumable material , is there any other settings for both or we have to treat both procurement as same
Hi Akshay,
Just to add to what experts said above,
For Raw material, we perform the normal procurement process: PR> RFQ>PO>MIGO>Payment
For consumables, we perform Optimized Purchasing where we generate Blanket POs. These materials could be of less importance. At the time of payment, SAP wud generate PO. These items are consumed as soon as they are received. No inventory records are maintained for them. So, we do not create the master data for them. For ex - A4 size papers or stationery etc.
Thanks,
Ankur

Hi Akshay,
Procurement can be of various types , for stocks, for direct consumption, for order, for projet, network etc whether it is raw material or other.
You are looking for information on procure for stock and direct consumption. It depends on which type of material (means valuated or non-valuated) how the accounting takes place, for stock procurement with valauted materials both value and quantity will be updated, for nonvaluated materials only stock get updated. In case of procure for direct consumption stocks will be posted directly to consumption/expense account in case.

hi,
Raw material: raw materials are the basic material from which a product is manufactured or made,
purchase material (me21n),receive material (migo),then issue (mb1a)to production
Consumable material: for these material puchase through Account assignment category, select the cost centre
then do the migo. in this case there is no issue.

Ali

Hi,
For raw mateial material type is ROH. Its procurement is normal procurement. Consumable material can be any material type. For raw material procurement as stock : 1.Material master record is needed2. No need of account assignment category 3. qty and value update occurs in material master
Procurement of material for consumption: This will be used for direct consumption. This will be consumed immediately after GR. 1.No need of material master record. 2.account assignment category is mandatory. 3.Consumption atatastics will be updated in material master record. Please refer below link for more clarity. Thanking you.
