Basic Dates and Production Dates in Planned Orders

Hi,

Can anyone tell me why Basic Dates and Production Dates are different in Planned Orders. I am using Make to Stock (strategy 10) with backward scheduling and a float of 1 day after production.

I have entered PIR for 1st December and have executed MRP on it. Now in the planned order Header tab the system shows Order Finish Date as 1.12.2011 in Basic Dates however its showing 02.12.2011 in Production Dates. Why is there a difference of 1 day? Semi Finished and ROH materials are in stock, capacity is available on work centers and I have no other orders planned in the system for the month of December.

We are using ECC 6.0 EHP 5 and I have also noticed that Production Dates in Planned Orders used to be blank in EHP 4.

Any help would be highly appreciated.

Regards,

HA

Hi,

Check scheduling parameters of planned orders in OPU5. Check whether basic dates are to be adjusted according to production dates.

Even if it is specified so system does not adjust basic dates of planned orders if production dates are determined by forward scheduling. You can see the scheduling type for the order in detailed scheduling tab. System switches to forward scheduling depending on the number of days start date is allowed to be in the past which is determined in the same customization step OPU5.

For a discussion on why basic dates are not adjusted in froward scheduling you can refer to thread

Hi ,

Basic dates are calculated based on time maintained in material master MRP2.

But Production dates are calculated after scheduling based on maintained in routing. Scheduling takes data from routing.

Change your master data and test your self.

Ritesh,

I have already tested that and I couldn't find anything wrong with my master data. Furthermore like I said that I am using backward scheduling and don't have any capacity constraint or components non availability. Shouldn't the MRP ensure that Production Dates are the same as Scheduled dates i.e. 01.12.2011 ?

i stil suggest check your master data.

also check have you maintained any float in scheduliong marginal key in material master.

there may be float before or after production which may be causing 1 day delay.

another test could be , instead of backward use forward scheduleing , just for test purpose.

check and come back

Thanks
