JCO connection for Relational Connection

Hello

We are currently implementing SAP BI 4.0 SP2 PATCH 7 connecting to BW 7.01 SPS 8.

I am trying to create a universe .unx using a Relational Connection.

The relational connector allows me to see the BW tables and I can create the data foundation and business layer.

However if I test the connection to see data from BW I get the following message:

[Data Federator Driver] [Server] [Connector 'testSourceConnection1321515616551'] An error occurred while trying to ping the server: Internal error: Could not start JCo Server.

Yet I can see the tables from BW?

On creation of the connector I can see this in the Data Federation Admin Tool.

If I query the connection from Data Federation I get the following message:

An error occurred when executing the query on the data federation query engine. (DFA 50003) [Data Federator Driver] [Server] Internal error: Internal error: Could not start JCo Server

Has anyone encountered the same issue? or have been able to connect to BW with the JCO connection.

Regards

Graham

Hello

After applying Patch 10 for BO 4.0 the JCO connection to BW now works.

A change in Patch 8 somehow cause the problem?

Able to create universe unx and build workspace and run within explorer.

Hi,

Thanks for updating your thread. Good to know.

I thought there might be something in the Patch2.10 release notes : http://service.sap.com/~form/sapnet?_SHORTKEY=01100035870000735576&_SCENARIO=01100035870000000202&_O...

I tried search terms like: federa* , multi* , bw, SQL , jco* , IDT* ..but couldn't find anything of interest

You never know, perhaps it was an internal fix which hasn't been communicated.

Regards,

H
