Hi All,
We have following system Landscape
OS : Windows 2008 R2
RAM : 128 GB
Hard Disk : 8 TB
We are planning to install all our SAP instances on VM (Virtual Machine).
so We have 1 VM created using Hyper-V (Windows 2008 inbuilt Feature) and installed OS 2008 and kept that VM as Snapshot.
And using the above snapshot, created multiple VMs using export and import VM features in Hyper-V and this method is successful and helped us reduce the time in creating a new and install OS and Patches.
On the new imported Virtual machine, we are able to install SAP instances successfully.
As a next step, we are planning to perform SAP installation (SRM7.0, EP7.01 and MDM7.1) in distributed mode,
ie., DB instance on VM1(MS SQL2008 Server) and SCS and Application server on VM2.
After completing all the post installation steps and configuration, planning to take a snapshots of the above 2 Virtual Machines and create 2 new VMs using the above snapshot in another server. In this way, we will be able to save lots of time in installation and configuration.
Only challenge we see in this process is the hostname of DB instance and SCS,PAS instance.
Did anyone tried above scenario. IF so what are the steps to be followed to change the hostname in SAP instances in distributed installations.
