Hi Experts,
I need to understand how high availability is achieved by installation of BOBJ 4.0 on Windows in a cluster.
I have installed a "Full" installation type on my windows server1, and chose to perform "Custom/Expand" in windows server2. I had provided the details of CMS installed in server1 when prompted. Now the installation is complete.
When I open the CMC from server2, in the system tab i need to type server1 details (I read in admin guide that by default, a cluster name reflects the specific name of the first CMS that you install, so i understand this).
Inside CMC, in Servers tab, I see all the servers of server1 and server2, but the Server2.CentralManagementServer is not and will not start and Server2.CrystalReportsCacheServer and Server2.DashboardDesignCacheServer is started with config errors.
Here I fail to understand how the application is highly available . In case my Server1 is shutdown for some reason, nobody will be able to login to CMC. My Server2.CentralManagementServer is not starting at all. Am I missing something? I did not do any config work yet on either of two servers
Please clear my doubts.
Regards,
Sonia
Are you getting any error message when you start the SIA in Server 2.
Try starting the SIA in server 2 and go to Event Viewer and check Application logs, this will give more insight into the issue.

The issue was resolved by maintaining the two server names in the host file.

Hi GuruAdmin,
In the event log I see the following error message:
"Failed to connect to name server Hydhtc4524:6400. Reason: Transport error: unable to retrieve the CMS factory.."
I have kept the same port numbers for both the servers, is that causing an issue here.
Please help.
