How can I reverse MMPV to the previous period?

Hi All,

I have done MMPV transfer the period from 10/2011 to 11/2011.

But I suddently found that I missed a material transaction in 09/2011.

This transaction is very impostant and have to be done in 09/2011.

How can I reopen the 09/2011 period?

- press select all button
- select EDIT
- change field contents
- select to fiscal year (period 1)
- enter
- put 2012 on the text box for with val and then press the replace button
- then press the skip button or (shift+f8) 5 times
- then click save button

> on the same system, run tcode SU3

- click parameter tab
- ParameterID : MMPI_READ_NOTE
- Parameter Value : YYYYMMDD -> (Ex. 20120813)
- click save button

> Initialize preiod for materail master record

- run tcode MMPI
- From Company Code : 30000
- Period : 8
- Fiscal Year : 2012

- Press execute

You can use OMSY t code to reverse the posting period for particular company code

Dear,

First answer - even if you find solution, DONT TRY TO REOPEN CLOSED PERIOD.

Because if everything goes well - HERO or if anything goes wrong ZERO. You dont know at the time being the result will be ok, but as time passed you will find the mistakes or inconsistencies arose due to reopen period.

Please find below steps which found :

If you want to open previous period for reversal entry or additional entry The following are steps for Opening previous period in MM :

1. Go to TCode SU01 (see OSS NOTES 487381)

2. Choose "change" tab with your loging Name

3. Choose "Parameter" tab give Parameters MMPI_READ_NOTE with date format as YYYYMMDD (say today 20071201)

4. SAVE.

5. Go to T-code MMPI

6. open the old periods which you want to post into,

Note : the period opening will be valid for only for the particular day only.

7. Complete the posting you want to reverse or add

8. Go to MMPV to close the periods

Note : If we enter the date or month in MMPV means we are opening that date or month by closing previous date or month

(Never use MMPV without completing the transaction in previous month).

I can't find the IMG settings.

All the change message function in IMG which has not the MM work area.

I don't think you should continue to post the missed document to previous period already. Today is already 15 Nov 2011, and there should be many transactions already carried out in Nov in your system already and you can't reverse period already. Please post it this month and explain to accounts.

I have already set this parameter 20110930.

But there are three companies in my system, when I execute MMPI for one of them and still come out the same error message MM(016)

Does the company code I need to set up?

Hi Syed,

In order to be able to have the period closing program running, you must reserve parameter ID MMPI_READ_NOTE with the current date in the user parameters with the current date in form YYYYMMDD (Y = year, M = month, D = day).

the note memtion setyp the current date, so i setup 20111115 for MMPI_READ_NOTE. But it still come out the same error message. I couldn't execute the MMPI. Neither I chose the period 09 2011 nor the Date 20110930.

In addition, change message MM(016):

'Follow the instructions in Note 487381 before initialization'.

the note also memtioned I need to change the message MM(016), but I don't know where is the path of change message.

Or I misunderstand the meaning of the note.

AGAIN, reverse by 2 periods is STRONGLY NOT RECOMMENDED in Live environment.

Refer below link on previous advise that was given.

In your issue, just key in period 10 first. Then do another time for period 9.

while opening back period close all user ID so they can not post any document in reopen period excepting One ID by which you can post docuement
