Hello Everyone
Please, can you suggest the best text book for SCM/ APO configuration.
Please let me know ASAP.
Thanks
Gayatri
I am trying to learn SNP by myself. Can anyone tell me. Is there nay prerequisite for SNP configuration. Do we have to have master data in APO. if so, how to configure APO master data. is there any document on that.
Thanks

Hello,
Of course you need master data for SNP, just like for any other applications.
I'm not familar with external training materials, but I think it's enough to learn from SAP provided materials.
I suggeste SCM230 and online help(http://help.sap.com/saphelp_scm70/helpdata/EN/48/2128546b9033f0e10000000a42189d/frameset.htm).
Please notice that most master data in APO system is transferred from ECC system by CIF.
It'll be a not so easy work to create master data directly in APO system, but if you want, make sure you have the following things: location master, product master, product/location master, resource, transportation lane, PPM/PDS.
Best Regards,
Ada
Thanks alot Ada.
Can you please provide me with step by step procedure for transfering master data from ECC to APO through CIF.
And also the documentation you provided was helpful but is there anything which has step by step procedure for creating master data in APO. Please answer that would be a great help.
THanks
Gayatri

Hello,
CIF master data is integration area where I'm not expert in. But you can refer to SCM210 instead of 230.
In ECC system, transaction cfm1 and cfm2 can be used to transfer master data (In SNP, we use location, product, resource, BOM) to APO system.
I know that there're many topics in integration, but start from CFM1 and CFM2 may be a good idea.
To use SNP, you may also need to create transportation lane manully in APO with transaction /sapapo/scc_tl1.

Ada
Sir the link given by you in above discussion is no more available

Could you please send me the new link if you know ?

Mayank,
Unfortunately, SAP no longer publishes a comprehensive Best Practices for SCM similar to the link I noted back in 2012.
A word to the wise as far as SAP help or Best Practices documentation are concerned: If you find official SAP docs that you like, you should download immediately, since SAP revises such docs frequently, and older versions will eventually become unavailable.
Some similar Best Practices docs can now be found by diligent searching through help.sap.com.
Examples are:
http://help.sap.com/saap/sap_bp/bblibrary/documentation/scp_erp606_bb_configguide_en_xx.doc
and http://help.sap.com/saap/sap_bp/bblibrary/documentation/scr_scm702_bb_configguide_en_xx.doc
Some of these freely available documents belong to certain Rapid Deployment Solution packages, You can download the full RDS packages for most RDS solutions through http://service.sap.com/rds-sup-chain but you must have a properly authorized 'S' number to access these docs.
I have also heard stories that there are unauthorized copies of many discontinued BP docs floating about in various places on the Internet. Caveat Emptor. There are legal issues involved in unpermitted distribution of copywrited materials, so I cannot recommend any of these sites.
Best Regards & Good Luck,
DB49
Gayatri,
To add to expert Rishi's suggestions, if you are willing to settle for PDF files at no charge, instead of a textbook, there is quite a bit of useful configuration info in SAP's Best Practices.

Hi Gayatri
There isin't a single book that covers all of SCM or even just APO configuration. There are some relatively good books that cover individual modules like DP, SNP, etc. Even then I've yet to find a book that covers 100% configuration for even a single module.
Now if you are looking for a beginners guide to SAP SCM/APO then some of the books you can consider are -
1. Supply Chain Management with SAP APO: Structures, Modeling Approaches and Implementation of SAP SCM 2008 by Jörg Thomas Dickersbach (Springer)
2. SAP SCM: Applications and Modeling for Supply Chain Management (with BW Primer) by Dan Wood (Wiley)
3. Sales and Inventory Planning with SAP APO by Marc Hoppe (SAP Press)
I'm sure there are others and you can easily find them on Amazon/ Google/ SAP Press. Each book (or other knowledge source) gives you just a little bit of what you need to know.
