Serial Number not appearing in Asset Creation (in case of multiple assets)

I have purchased 6 Laptops and all 6 laptops have separate serial numbers.

I went to AS01 screen. I entered Asset Class, Company Code and Number of similar assets (i gave '6')

I entered all relevant details and clicked on 'save.' I showed me two options: MAINTAIN or CREATE.

I clicked on MAINTAIN. It showed me pop up for entering separate details (like Description, Evaluation Groups, Cost Centers and Inventory Number). I want to maintain serial separate numbers separately for the same. So please tell me how to bring 'serial number' column in 'MAINTAIN' screen.

When you click on serial number column is already there. (greyed out). Then what serial number you wanted to maintain?

Enter the description, cost center etc. Once, you entered, then again a popup will come, then you need to click on Create. Then the system itself will create you six assets with six different asset numbers.

Yes, in AS01 screen, serial number screen is greyed out even though i have kept that field as optional. Please tell me why that field is greyed put, even if i put similar assets as 1.

Kindly check in ANSICHT ,If this field has been set to display mode.

How to see this field whether its in display mode or optional mode.

I have made "serial number" field as optional in Master Data screen layout. Are you talking same?

Hi:

In ANSICHT...enter dep area...select asset accounting...authorization for master data fields...See if field group no 75 has been set to display. If it has been then it will always be seen in display mode ... Please check and revert back.

Where did you set this as optional? I do not think this is controlled by any field status.

AF: Group number 75 is in "maintenance" mode in ANSICHT.

RSV: I made this field optional in Asset Master data, screen layout.

Hi:

I can give you a hint about the place these fields are coming from..When the screen pop ups you can see the a blue,white and yellowish button name as Configuration on the top right corner of it. Click it new screen will appear..go to administrator. This is the place from where these fields are being picked up...May be we can add here serial number there. Please update the forum
