Excel Data Access Service

Hi there,

I read on the BIP 4.0 Admin Guide that there is a service called 'Excel Data Access Service'.

The description is 'Supports Excel files uploaded to SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence Platform as data sources'.

(see p. 46 of Admin Guide)

However when I´d like to read up more about it, I cannot seem to find more information about this.

So I have a few questions regarding this:

(1) What is this service and how is this expected to work?

(2) Does this mean that I can have Excel spreadsheets uploaded as a data source for my contents in Dashboard Design?

(3) Is this only for Live Office?

I think this is just for Webi using xlsx as a datasource. The corresponding 'Excel Data access Service' is listed under WebIntelligence Services when creating a new server.

The admin guide tells you all you need to know about using this functionality .. but its just for Webi.

I have been looking aht the admin guide but there isn't much information about how to use the Excel Data access service.

Has anyone has aguide about how this is working ?
