Error: service '?' unknown in Load Balance

Hi,

I'm configuring SAP load balancing.

I've configured the group in SMLG, and now I'm trying to add the logon properties in SAP GUI.

My current landscape is:

Node 1 and node 2 configured in cluster environment.

ASCS is started on node 1.

Now, in saplogon properties, I have:

System ID: <SID>

Message server: hostname of node 1

Group/Server: Error: service '?' unknown

I've added entry in services file:

sapms<SID> 36xx/tcp

And disable firewall.

Still same problem.

(I can't telnet to that port, though).

Thanks for help.

Regards,

Hi ,

Please check these SAP notes

1228346 SAP Logon: service '?' unknown / partner ... not reached

882741 SAP Logon: "Logon balancing error", service 'sap...' unknown

52959 sapms..., sapdp.., sapgw.. unknown (or not found)

Check the entries in etc/services and then restart the server once.

Regards,

Naveen.

Hi,

Make sure that you put a newline behind that entry if it's the last line.

Also, you said you are not able to telnet on the port 36XXon your server IP. Please make sure that there is no n/w firewall between your system and server.

Thanks

Sunny

I've added entry in services file:

sapms<SID> 36xx/tcp

Did you make a new line after this? Hab the same problem some time ago and then figured out I had forgotten to make a new line after the entry...

You can also try IP instead of hostname in the SAP Logon (or otherway round).

Thanks much for all your support.

After putting new line behind the services entry, it works well.
