Data Provisioning in the SAP HANA Sandbox system

Hi Gurus,

I need help in addressing the below issues related to data provisioning in the SAP HANA sandbox system for which I got access from SAP.

1. When I click on the data provisioning link in the information modeler on SAP HANA modeler I get the following error:

"Replication is not configured.Contact system Administrator".

Please suggest how I can get rid of this error and start using the replication service.

2. I couldn't find any ERP source system instance in the modeler from which we could replicate meta data and do data loads.

Does any administration work needs to be done to configure the connection to the source ERP system?

Thanks,

Goutham

    Hello,

you got three ways how to setup replication:

    1.) ETL via Data Services

    2.) SLT via Data Provisioning

3.) Log based via Sybase replicator

In case that you wish to use SLT replication (which is covered by Data Provisioning) you fist need to install and setup SLT system.

I wrote blog about SLT setup (second part will be released soon - I need to update to SLT SP05 that was recently released):

SAP SLT (Trigger Based) Replication Made Easy - part 1: Planning, Preparation, Installation

    Here is also official documentation:

    Hi Goutham,

For the SAP Sandbox an easy way would be to upload a CSV file with data to Cloudshare and load to a HANA table.

Loading data from CSV is not documented anywhere I think, it was described here:

How to load CSV files into HANA

    Hi all,

the original message posted by Goutham says it all: "Replication is not configured.Contact system Administrator". On the HANA Sandbox, you don't get any replication from SAP or other backend system. No SLT. No Data Services. No SAP backend. Just plain HANA.

So relevant screens will still show in HANA Studio, but you cannot enter any meaningful information (unless you stand up your own ABAP and SLT systems)

If this error persists then the user does not have the Authorized role granted to him/her (like HANASAP8_PROV) etc... Once granted with this role (Usually with admin permission); the user will not get the error that you mentioned.

    Hi Guys,

Just go to the Security tab - Select the user which you want to execute the Data Provisioning - Assign the role <Schema>_DATA_PROV.

    Thats it 😊
