Future course of action

Hello to you all. My name is Abhik Dhar and I am from West Bengal, India. I am a (Hons) student and I want to become an SAP (FI/CO) consultant. Since my graduation course is going to be complete in a few months time, what course should I enroll for after graduation to achieve my goal? I know that work experience in a similar module is an added advantage. But, as a fresher, what can I do about it? So, I am looking for the future course of action I should take to achieve my goal. Detailed answers are welcome. Thanks in advance to all the answerer.

I would always suggest you to get some kind functional experience, then go for SAP education.

Refer the following link for further details.

If you get a chance to get any on job exposure on SAP, go and grab it.

I am not discouraging you, but immediately, if you go for SAP certification, you may end up with some knowledge gap.

    All the best.

    • There is no end to having functional experience in different fields, Accounting, Audit, Finance, Budgeting, Planning, Reporting and Management Accounting etc.

But, your ultimate aims is to shift into SAP. Obviously, you will start with GL, AP, AR and Asset Accounting and basics of Management Accounting.

Therefore, if you get a chance, work in the following areas of an organisation.

      1. Accounts Payable Team

      2. Accounts Receivable Team

      3. Capital Budgeting Team

      4. Year end Activities

      5. Management Accounting.

If you get access to SAP system, try to explore as much as you can. In your free time, read

answers in the forum / blogs / wikis / articles.

Long way to go, but constant reading and practice is the only way.
