HANA Client Installation Error - Issue open since version 13 till 18!!

Dear Gurus,

It may sound awakward, facing a persistent issue installing SAP HANA client on my laptop.

Starting right from the revision 13, I have tried to install the latest rev. 18 of HANA client, but the error during installation remains same. I am pasting the installation log below. Since rev. 17, I tried to install using the GUI (hdbsetup), as well the command line utility (hdbinst), and the same error, with all the revisions, with either of the methods!!!

Just FYI, I am trying to install HANA client 32 bit version on my laptop. (It is Windows 7 32 bit machine). Just for the hack of it, tried 64 bit version too, but the setrup dont even start, as expected.

Last, but not the lease, have got even the laptop formatted, and started fresh install, if the error is due to some confilcting libraries. However the same issue persists. Even from the safe mode/ command prompt only; all the installation methods fail!!

Can someone help? Many thanks in advance!!!

Do you have windows installed in regular location?

Please open regedit and go to this location:

    HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Windows

There you should find "SystemDirectory" value - does it correspond to locationof system32 directory?

    Hello,

It seems that installer is trying to find some registry key and is failing to find it...

    12:56:51.278 - ERR: Cannot determine system32 path
12:56:51.278 - ERR: Cannot find system directory inside windows registry.

Please download Process Monitor and use it to scan for registry activity during installation.

    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896645

Then you should see which registry key is scanned and not found.

Let us know back the registry key.

    • Hello,

please filter on process name "hdbsetup.exe" and "hdbinst.exe" (the scan above does not contain anything useful).

When pasting - please use code section to have the result readable.

Also please provide content of log file from installation:

      %TEMP%\hdb_client_<timestamp>

    Hello Manish,

Could you please share further details regarding "I just checked, the dll existed at client directory, so went ahead manually with the below:

    C:\Windows\System32>regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\sap\hdbclient\SAPNewDBMDXProvider.d"

    How to manually register this?

    Thanks & Best Regards,

    Dhaval.
