Vísual Studio 2008

Hello,

we upgrade msa/mas 50sp 15 to 701SP5.

In upggrade guide there is visual studio 2008 as requirement.

Can I just upgrade VS2005 to 2008, or must deinstall 2005 and then install 2008 ?

Any experiennce ?

Hello Gerd,

You may upgrade your VS 2005 to 2008 . I dont' think there'll be any issues with that

I' ve already upgraded/installed VS2008, and now I have two versions of

VS on my client: VS 2005 and VS 2008.

But when I start VS 2008, there is no CRM Mobile Application add-in.

How can I preoceed in upgrading my MAR now ?

Must I do the upgrade.exe as described in the upgradeguide ?

Or is there something wrong with the two VS iinstallations ?

hi Gerd,

Here is how I did the upgrade. We have Repository on a different server and you do not need Visual Studio there. So first upgrade the Repository following the instruction to execute upgrade.exe etc.

On MDW where you do need Visual Studio, I did a separate installation of Visual Studio 2008. So now even our MDW has both 2005 and 2008. But when you upgrade the MDW and then open the Mobile Application studio from there it opens it in visual studio 2008 asking you something about what you like to link to studio 2008 and I had selected the first option which was generic...(I forgot exactly what the options were)

So if you have Repository and MDW on same system and you have not upgraded the repository yet I think you need to first do that upgrade and then try to use MAS checking if it connects to Studio 2008.

I made a backup of the ars_db and

deinstalled the msa/mas. Then I installed mas/msa new on the client.

Now the mobile application studio add-in is in VS2008.

Problem solved.
