Roughly 3 weeks ago I became unable to use Crystal reports 11 reports that have parameters. I typically prompt for dates, departments etc. I am using Windows 7 and it doesn't matter what type of ODBC data source I am pointing to. I have the same issues wether I am pointing to a MS SQL Server or a local MS Access database. I have removed Crystal and -reinstalled it using SP2.
I cannot link this to anything specific in terms of patches etc. Does the parameter prompt use IE? Java?
Please assist.
Brian
Hi Brian,

The prompt screen uses Internet Explorer (IE) and Java Script, and it is honoring the IE security.
The issue could definitely be related to your Internet Security Setting, so I will first suggest to verify the Internet Options in IE.
Setup to the lowest security.
If you are still experiencing an issue after that, then verify the prompting files located on your MS windows 7 exists.
It is located under:
C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\Crystal Reports 2011\crystalreportviewers\prompting
One suggestion will be to make a backup copy of the folder, and then copy the folder from the working environment to the non-working environment.
Finally, if none of the above suggestions help in resolving the issue, then verify if there is even some code loaded. To do so:
1. Refresh your report that have at least one parameter in Crystal Reports 2011
2. When being prompted by a blank parameter prompt screen, open the screen in a new IE window by pressing the keys: CTRL-N
3. When a new window for the parameter prompt open, view the source code by selecting "View Source" under the menu "Page"
Does it show anything?
Also, you can check the properties to where the temporary file is loaded and check the file. In IE, the option is under "Page - Properties", then in this window you will see a path like:
C:/Users/MyUser/AppData/Local/Temp/prompting1.html
Hope this help!

Hi Brian,
Does it happen with static or dynamic parameters?
And, does the prompt screen come up if you create a new report in CR 2011?
