it is basically a function that makes a quantity dimensionless.It is helpful if we have two quantity for example profit and revenue
and their dimensions are different for example amount and integer.If we require to add or subtarct them in certain condition then we will not be able to add aor subtract them as their dimension are different in the query designer so in this case we use NODIM() and we are able to add or subtract them without their dimension and get the right result.
NODIM(Profit) + NODIM(revenue)

As already explained, NDIC is used within formulas in BEx Query Designer while you designing them. Formula like following:
NODIM(KF1/KF2)
Returns only numerical values of <expression> and furthermore it suppresses units and currencies. Therefore e.g. you can mix two Key Figures having different units or currencies and you still get proper result (in this case devision) not an error.
