Time Sheet for Part Time Employees

Have a client who has more work schedules than they have people. Of course the proper decision is to have them redefine there work schedules, but that will probably not happen. We are trying to get by with 1 work schedule. 40 hrs a week and then they can reduce the percentage on infotype 0007 to get the actual hours. 50% = 20hr a week.

Here's my scenario. Employee has a part time work schedule of 40hrs a week working 50% on infotype 0007. When we enter vacation for them, it will only let them enter a maximum of 4 hrs per day. Is there anyway to tell cats that entering 8hrs a day is acceptable.

Cheers,

Stephen

If you aren't using the employment percentage in any other place, you can as well change the daily working hours and the number of days in a week- say for ex: 10 Hrs/Day for 2 days to get the same 20 Hrs for a 50% part time employee. Doing this will get you to a 10 Hrs work schedule in CATS[CAT2 Transaction]. I dont know what rules you have put in place in Time Evaluation to read the Planned Hours for the day etc- you might have to investigate from that prespective as well.

Did you try unchecking the "Part Time flag"

Yes you can, but I can't tell you exactly what configuration changes would be required.

We have the opposite problem, where employees use a "Full-time WS Rule" on IT0007, check fields P0007-TEILK and P0007-DYSCH to indicate part-time status and use field P0007-MINTA to indicate percentage. Note that their fields P0008-BSGRD and P0008-DIVGV were prorated accordingly.

Ever since our initial Go-Live in 2001 we have had problems with absence hours and Quota deductions for such employees, so in 2008 we created special Daily Work Schedules (and PWS) to correct the situation.

The restriction is based on the number of hours on the daily work schedule identified within the WSR, multiplied by the employment percentage for each day. When displayed on CATS this is the planned working time (8*.5 = 4) and the limit for the recording of an absence on that day. Absences in SAP will only allow the application of a different amount if the absence variant os set up. You may try this and see if the absence will accept an value greater than 8. Another approach might be to establish a WSR with 7 days at 24 hours each day. Manage the weekly working time on IT0007 directly and then make sure to check the part time flag. This will allow the entry of up to 24 hours a day on the entry screens (CATS or 2001). The only other approach is to create as menu part time work schedules as people work (not always an effective use of time and resources) using a good naming convention.

    Hope this helps.

    • Must be how your system is configured, because in ours, an employee on an 8.00 hour Daily Work Schedule who has an IT0007 marked as part-time 50.00% will still show each day as being 8.00 hours in CAT2.

As I was mentioning in my earlier posting, that configuration has many drawbacks such as time entry and Quota Deductions, but also for employees who don't work the same number of hours each day. For example, if a 50% employee works 2 full day and a half day each week, a full day absence will sometimes be 8 hours and sometimes 4 hours.

Let me add that the reduction of the time entered in CAT2 is only occurring on absences types. If I key 8hr vacation on pressing enter it adjusts to 4. If I key 8hrs of attendance, no reduction occurs.

Does that help in diagnosing this?

    Cheers,

    Stephen
