Setting SSM Enverionment

Hello Guys,

I need your help in my SSM Enverionment. I Installed SSM 7.5 (SP10) under SAP NetWeaver 7.2.

I´ve already followed all the Guides related with "Setting up SSM Enverionment" but still with doubts.

After my installation process I was able to login into the aplication with my PIPADMIN user and could access HomePage; Administration;Tools, Cube Builder and etc...

I also could login in Application Server (PAS) and look for some dimensional models (JUICE;INITIAL;SMREPORT; ...). I´ve already could run some select statements into CPMS_ tables. (I´ve created a LINK ID between Application Server and my NetWeaver database)

When I access the SSM Application Home Page I can´t look for Dashboards, Reports, KPI´s, Perspectives/Objectives. I got a lot of pop up errors related with Creation os Model Conections (PAS) and Dimensional Models.

First of all I would like to understand better what is the initial cycle and actions that are needed to look the default data (pwsample) running into the SAP Strategy Management Application.

What should I create now to look for the sample data in my SSM Enverionment?

Thank you for attention.

Best Regards,

Bruno Heissler

Hi,

You have to create the Model connection in configuration screen,

1.Go to the URL Http://<host><port>/strategy/pilotworks/demolauncher.htm.

2.Select the link SAP SSM Administrator interface for the particular Database.

3.Go to the Administration--> Manage Models

4.You need to create a initial model connection as below details.Once the Initital model is created, the errors will not come.

Model Connection name CBDEFAULT

Application Server User CBADMIN

PAS System Name Host Name

PAS LOGON DB USER NAME

Password DB Password

System Groups/Users Everyone

Model Juice

5.Test the connection

Dear Balas,

Thank you for the suggestion.

I followed your steps.

1º I logged in DemoLauncher, in the "pwsample" database. Is the same database the is setted into NetWeaver SM parameter (PwDatabase).

2º Into administration phase, I entered in Manage Models

3º As I dont have Model Conections and Application Server Connections available, I started the creation process.

4º Model Connection: CBDEFAULT

PAS System Name: LOCALHOST (the Aplication Server is running in the same server that NetWeaver and SM)

PAS System Logon: CBADMIN

Password: *****

Port: 8325

Min: 0

Max: 5

PAS Model: JUICE

PAS User: GUEST

Password: (nothing)

INI File: lsserver.ini

Service: PILOT

Groups and Users: EVERYONE

5º After Test the connection, I couldn´t have success in the process. ( Error occurred trying to connect; login failed)

For Information, I´m fixing my LSSERVER.INI script.

I would like to understand the differences between PAS SYSTEM LOGON and PAS USER. The users that I fixed into PAS System Logon (CBADMIN), is the same user that I´m using to access the SM client "Application Server". This user has Exclusive permission under JUICE Dimensional Model. Perhaps I´m putting the wrong user, I don´t know.

What is wrong in my parameters/environment ?

Any help is welcome.

Bruno,

There are three distinct profiles for PAS users:

1) System administators - like Admin or Super - build and maintain the models, etc. These are strictly for people accessing the PAS interface.

2) PAS technical user - this is a user created to link to other applications or databases. This technical user is given the permission to be able to access the data needed to populate the PAS model.

3) PAS User - This is a technical user inside of PAS that has permissions for accessing models. There is the default user GUEST and the prescribed users related to Entry & Approval like CBADMIN. You can create other PAS users as a way of restricting access to data within a PAS model. While GUEST gives full access to a model, you might create a PAS user called EUROPE and limit that user to only data from Europe.

Now, when the SSM administrator creates a Model Connection for a Context that only will be using European data, they use EUROPE, rather than GUEST as the PAS USER and the data is filtered from the PAS layer.

Bob,

Thank you for the clarification.

I did some actions in my Manage Model parameters and I now could get an advanced in my work.

Follow the new parameters that I entered:

Model Connection: NW (This is the Linke ID name that I created into Application Server. It´s a link between App Server and my NetWeaver database (CPMS tables))

PAS System Name: LOCALHOST (the Aplication Server is running in the same server that NetWeaver and SM)

PAS System Logon: (user that access the SM Server)

Password: (password that access SM Server)

Port: 8325

Min: 0

Max: 5

PAS Model: JUICE

PAS User: GUEST

Password: (nothing)

INI File: lsserver.ini

Service: PILOT

Groups and Users: EVERYONE

I could get success in the Test Connection and now I can look for Initiatives, Objectives, etc... (No more pop up erros. YEAH)

Now I´m working to figure out why the values for the scorecard are not been showing in the SM application. I think that something related with permission is impacting my Model Connection, I don´t know. Perhaps the way that I created the model connection was not totaly right and now this is impacting me. I´m working hard to make this happen.

Guys, after this effort, I was thinking about, Should us always create a Model Connection related with a Link ID created for the NetWeaver database (SM tables)?

I saw some answers about a Model Connection created with CBDefault (Model Name) using the CBADMIN like PAS User.

This make me a little confused, someone can explain me about these different Models and Model Connection Objective in the SM app?

Guys, sorry for the questions, but there are somethings that we really can´t understand just reading the SAP SM Installation Guide.

I thank you for the answers.

Hi Bruno,

Now you have to load the HFPBM model in PAS.

1.login to the PAS.

2.In the IDQL Tab enter this command "JOB HFPBMMAK.PRO;ext"(Refer sbop_sm_config_server_help document page number77).

3.Once u entered the data, it will load the Model to PAS.

4.Now you can see all the data in SSM Screens.

After this process, I logged into Administration SSM Interface and created a Model Connection related with HFPBM Model.

I got sucess in the Test Connection and now was possible look for data into DASHBOARD and REPORT tabs.

Into the SCORECARD tab, I´m still NOT ABLE to look for data. I can look for Perspectives, Objects, but the columns "Actual, Target and other else" are in blank.

P.s: Into the output script we can look for a database patch. Looking for the same patch in my server, I couldn´t look for the database. The HFPBM dump file and database are stored into DATA folders and not in HOME folder as showed in the script.

What is missing in this process?

Where (What Dimensional Model) are stored the KPI Indicators?

Bruno,

Look in the SSM administrator interface and make sure that the Contexts have HFPBM as the associated model. It's under

Scorecards > Set Scorecard Defaults choose your context and make sure that HFPBM is in the selected PAS Model Connection.

Bob,

It was fixed another PAS Model Connection instead of HFPBM under my context.

I changed for HFPBM Model connection and now I´m able to look for ScoreCard data.

Thank you so much for the help guys.
