SAP Crystal Reports XI 4.0 is not connecting to the enterprise

Hi,

We have a new BOXI 4.0 version installed on server, also installed client tools on client machines, we installed crystal reprots java from addon's. When i open crystal reports and in Data -> Choose Data source..."There has been a problem getting supported data sources from the server." is the error i got....i tried to logon from File -> Logon i am able to logon to Enterprise with Administrator. Apart from this all other components in eneterprise are working fine.

We are able to logon to Enterprise but not able to create any new report using datasource, because datasource window is opening from Data -> Choose datasource, but it is faded/disabled, hence it is now allowing to create any datasource.

Hello,

CR 4 BOE 4.0 ( Java Report Designer ) can ONLY create reports off of Universe or other Sources saved in the BOE 4.0 Repository. If you have not saved any then you won't have the option to select any.

If you need direct Database connectivity then you need to use CR 2011 ( Windows Report Designer ).

Hi Don,

Thanks for your help, but when we connect from CR 2011 to Universe (created on BI query) which is in repos, i am getting logon failed error after choosing objects in query panel. (I have logged in into enterprise as Administrator)

Also i am not able to logon to ECC, i am able to logon from SAP GUI but not from CR 2011, any prerequisites need to be done?

Yes, when you installed CR 2011 it installed the local SAP Client drivers but you also need to install the components from:

..
win32_x86\release\packages\CrystalReports\Collaterals\Add-Ons\SAP\Transports

On the SAP Server.

Don, my basis resource identified the transports but those are with the same name which are already there in SAP system.

Still do we need to copy/replace again.

Because he says he checked the transports which are downloaded with CR2011 are same name as in SAP system already when BO installed.

Hello,

Yes you do, for each Service Pack there are newer versions so each one needs to be installed each time and patch is applied. I believe SP2 is now available so update both CR Designer and the SAP server.

All transports are fine on SAP system. And environment in server is BO4.0 SP2 and client is CR2011 SP2, when we check for transports given in CR2011 SP2 with SAP system transports are 100% matching and there are no any new transports which need to be added for CR2011 SP2.

Connectivity ISSUES:

1. From CR2011 Designer we are unable to create a report by using OLAP Universe. (we tried to convert .unv to .unx with IDT but error says it is not supported)

2. From CR2011 Designer, using datasource we tried to create a connection for BI queries, it is done but we are able to see all cubes but not all BI queries in existing system, we have enabled couple of queries enable to enterprise option in BEX. Still we are not able to see the queries. In connection options even we have checked all options.

Hello,

Mmmm... it should work either way, as unx or unv. I suggest you create a case in SMP and get one of the BOE 4.0 Reps to help you debug the UNV/UNX issue... Go into the Universe Group.

Don, is it possible to save BEX Queries in BOE repository? I'd like to avoid creating universe and post my Business Warehouse queries directly in the repository so I can write my crystal reports off those queries. Thanks.

That is a very good question and would be a great feature. I don't know.

The BEX forum should know or if you create the Case the Rep can answer it for you....

Otherwise post your enhancement request to Idea Place, top right corner of this page menu bar....
