Hello,
Though this has been discussed several times, I could not get the exact answer I am looking for. Since nothing worked, I thought I would put up the issue by listing our landscape to get more definite answer. After several tries, our SLD is still not properly maintained and we could not get the deployment working because of no Jco connection. One thing we are sure is the services file is gone wrong somewhere. Our landscape entries are:
Backend system 46c on Unix / Portal: EP 6 sp9 on Windows server /
Our services file looks like this.
Services file on Unix which houses the R/3 application server:
sapmsMA1 3600/tcp
sapgw00 3300/tcp
sapgw99 3399/tcp
sapmsWEB 3600/tcp
MA1 is the name of the r/3 server and WEB is the J2ee instance
Services file on Windows server which houses Portal and J2ee
sapgw00 3300/tcp
Now the sld data supplier tab perfectly works okay and CIM testing is successful from J2EE. In RZ70, I type in Portal host name and sapgw00 and execute the transaction as recommeded in one of the forum topic. I get an answer
RFC call failed. Partner not reached.SMGW indicates that I use service sapgw00.So I am using the correct service.
Other things that I noted is:
RFC settings are not maintained in SLD Data supplier tab in J2EE.I am not sure if that is the requirement. Now my questions are:
1. What should be the host name in RZ70 ? Is it the portal server or r/3 server
2. Should the R/3 gateway settings be maintained in RFC settings tab in SLD data supplier bridge ?
3. Should any other information be maintained in SLD to make all this happen ?
Thanks
Swami Bala

Hi:
Did you try with sapgw99 instead of sapgw00 ?. I have only one instance so my service is the 2nd one. Probably you have the wrong service. In gateway Host put the IP of your R3 system and test it again.
Hope it helps you.
have a nice day.
