Connect SAP BI Dev to SAP Dev and QA Portal

Hi Gurus,

We have a requirement where there is one SAP BW Dev system, which has all the BEx quereis and test data. And its already connected to Dev Portal, now client have all his ECC test data in QA. BW Dev is connected to ECC QA. Client asked me whether can we connect BW Dev system to both Portals. If yes can you please send me any document or step by step material to connect SAP BW dev to SAP QA Portal. And also how does SSO(Single Sign On) works in this case?

We are on SAP BI 730, SP2 and SAP Portal 720.

Hi Rahul/Pramod,

Thanks for your response but I am still not clear. As one connection between BW Dev to EP dev is already present. Now I want to establish one more connection between same BW dev to QA Portal. Reason behind that is client has only 2 BW box one Dev and another QA/Prod. Thats the reason they want to use BW Dev for testing but should poin to QA Portal as ECC QA is linked to it.

Now my question is do I need to follow all below configuration steps again:

Create an RFC destination in the J2EE-Engine in SAP EP 6.0

Create an RFC destination for SAP EP 6.0 in SAP BW

Maintain the portal server settings for SAP EP 6.0 in SAP BW

Maintain Single Sign-On in SAP BW

Export the BW certificate in SAP BW

Import the BW certificate in SAP EP 6.0

Create BW system in SAP EP 6.0

Configure user management in SAP EP 6.0

Export the portal certificate in SAP EP 6.0

Import the portal certificate in SAP BW

Set up repository manager for BW in SAP EP 6.0

Maintain user assignment in SAP EP 6.0

Import SAP Basis Plug-In in SAP BW

If not what the are steps I need to follow and what do you mean by create System Objects in Portal.

As we have already created RFC connections in BW for Dev Portal do we need to replace them with QA Portal. Please explain.

Hi,

System object is used to connect to R/3 and used to get any Transaction data for ex:In your case you are connecting to BW system and say you are trying to show BI reports in portal for this you need system objects

Hi,

1. Check the note 937697 for integrating BI with Portal.

2. Not sure why you want use BW Dev to connect to QA portal. It's a good practise to move the BW Dev content to BW QA and do the work.

But if you want to you can setup SSO between the QA Portal and BW Dev system and make sure you have the same system alias what you have in Dev Portal.

Also check Note 917950, thought it's not for the versions you are on, but it will give you info on what is needed and how .

Hi,

Now your requirement is to Connect Dev and QA portals to SAP BW ECC System.

1. Create System objects in both portals which is pointing to SAP BW System.

Now your second question is regarding SSO(SINGLE SIGIN ON)

1.You need to establish SSO in between Dev portal and SAP BW System.and agian SSO should be maintianed or established for Quality portal to same SAP BW system,as such both dev and quality are both diffrenent portals you have to establish sso for same SAP BW System separately.
