Hi,

The standard SAP MB5M Shelf life expiry report will display material in which it's shelf life has been expired.

Basically MC46 transaction is for finding out the Slow Moving Items. I.e. materials which haven't consumed from inventory in the specified period.

Thanks.

Hi,

Ok..Expiry of the shelf life wrt to the data you have provided in the material masters will be calculated and displayed in the report. So its the company's call to decide what should be done abou these stocks (which depends on nature of usability and application of the materials after their SL expiry, say in perishable foods, pharma they are scrapped).

If they want to use them for some other purpose such as reconstruction, repair or reprocess (in order to bring the quality back if they have a process of that type) they can always go for it else they have to Write them off the system.

In case of slow moving items (where their shelf life is direclty affected) company might want to move them faster to be consumed and sold.

MC46--What is the criteria for deciding the slow moving items, it should be the number of days it not been ordered or the frequency of the ordering of that materials.

If the materials shelf life has been expired, then youneed to take a decision whether to should continue to use this material or return it to the vendor for replacement or scrap it.

Thanks for the reply...

Lets say after extracting the report from MB5M we found two material codes showing in a red indicator for 188 days...from this what can i conclude to client to check in those two material codes?

188- days means the material had a shel life which ahd expired 188 days ago.

So need to ask your client what it should be done with this material whether to use it or scrap it or return it back to vendor etc..
