BOM Deletion Inconsistency

Former Member
0 Kudos

Hello All,

Deleted a BOM (ALT 1) containing a only document item in it, ALT 2 is still available. Now we are again in need of the that BOM but when tried to re-create ALT 1 system gave error message that "ALT 1 BOM already exist for the material and plant"

When use to display using CS03, system says BOM for material and plant is not exist in the system.

After invistation it has been noticed, ALT 1 BOM was got deleted physically only and not logically as BOM table entries (MAST, STPO, STKO etc) for ALT1 still exist in the system.

Our need to create ALT1 BOM is immense and inescapable.

Please suggest how to delete the BOM logical entries so that ALT1 can be recreated (Table maintenance SE11 option is not feasible).

Thanks you.

First dgirme I have a question. Did you use a ECN to obsolete the part numbers? transaction CC01 to create ECN.

Second I have a similar case, I haven't found a way to create the Alt1 BOM once this was deleted with CS02, as you mentioned the system is telling that the Alt1 exists but you can't see the BOM with CS03 or CS12.

What I did:

I changed the effectivity date of the ECN that I used in the past to Obsolete the BOMs to a future date 12/30/9999, this reverts the change done in the past. After this you can view again the Alt1 BOM with CS03 and also can modify the BOM creating another ECN (transaction CC01) as you need it.

I don't know if this is the only way to do it, but for me it works.

Without ECN number I don't know how to revent the changes..

I hope this helps...

Hi Dgirme,

your question is Deletion Inconsistency yeap.

Ok here are the steps to Delete the BOM CS02----> open the BOM and goto -

> on the top MATERIAL BOM clikck it -

> there will be Option DELETE.

If you click on it (DELETE) there will be a message displayed in the bottom that materials are been allocated again press ENTER then the BOM will be DELETED.

Come back to CS01 and give the same material maintain the particulars you will able to create the alternate BOM 1 with the same items in the BOM.

I hope you can try it.

Hi Madhu333mac,

CS02/CS03 doesnt show ALT1 BOM giving the error message "BOM not exist on valid date XX/XX/XXXX.

But BOM tables shows the entries.

Hi,

Although most of the experts have given the legitimate and workable solution to come out from an issue which is still persisting as per your inputs.

since nothing special is remaining to suggest ,However I assume-

1.you are deleting the entire BOM(including all associated components ans Items/sub-items) alomg with the header details.

2.Table level enteries had already been maintained.

3.you put correct ALT Boms to delete/re-enter.

4.Document part is also being covered while deleting.

5.Make sure your system messages config dont clash with the existing Functionalities.

Cheers

Hi,

Can you please give us details what validity period you are able to see in the tables.

so that we can assist.

we may get error bom doesn't exit because of validity date either for BOM or for component in your case BOM only had one component.

I came across with this type of issue which was due to validity only

Hi,

Can you be more specific on what exactly you want mate.

You want to delete BOM1 which is a master data.

And again you want to recreate the BOM with same material. So, please let me know what is the Plan of yours Because I am little bit confused.

Hi,

That mean you didnt delete the ALTERNATIVE 1,only you delete the item in it.

so follow the steps

1.cs02-mat,plant,bom usage--enter

2.select first alternative---then choose ITEM OVERVIEW

3.In that Material Bom---Delete

system will give msg

Are you sure you want to delete the (alternative) BOM?

Give yes

now you able create new alternative one

Ananth,

I deleted BOM at header level, and the item in it is just a document item.

Now the BOM is not visible through CS02 or CS03...so cannot use these tcodes. When I try to open BOM in change or display mode system gives the error message that " ALT 1 is not valid on so and so date.

Hi,

Once you delete your bom again have create new alternative

I want to create ALTERNATIVE 1 only but system is not allowing for that...

Please read below for the reference....

Hi dgirme,

Are you sure that alt.1 has been delete? maybe you enter the wrong "valid from" date

try to clear Alternative BOM, and entry the right "valid from" for BOM Alt.1, you can refer valid date from BOM tables or past Order

Wish you luck

Best Regard

Ratri,

I am sure that ALT1 have been deleted and that to using ECM number. Yes, I am entering the correct "Valid From" date and I enter the ECM number the date is automatically getting copied over "Valid from" field on CS03 or CS02.

I think only the deletion flag or deletion indicator is set at header level. Go to CS02 and enter Alt bom 1 and see if you can get in. Could you check it and revert back?

Thanks Jeevan for the reply...

I get same error message i.e. ALt 1 not valid on so and so date when using CS02.

I used all ECM numbers which are currently showing in STKO table for this BOM and all the time system copying the valid from date when hit first enter on CS02 and on second hit an error message "ALT 1 NOT VALID ON MM/DD/YYYY.
