    hi,

On the base of material type you have to categorized your material. in mm01.

    Hi,

Please create industry type as plant and engineering. Ctreate different material types for your categories in OMS2 by copying standard material types. For example copy DIEN (service) and create material type for repair and maintanance.A fter copying the standard material type do the necessary changes according to your requirement and save the material type as a new material type. Tha new material type may start with Z. To create material type for Fittings can copy the ERSA (spare parts) and do necessary changes. Thanking you.

    HI,

We need to group/categorize our materials ( MMR) as per five levels, e.g; NON NETWORK>ADMIN>OFFICE EQUIPMENT & SUPPLIES>STATIONARIES>ID CARD HOLDER

If you want categories it there are two option either go For new material type or create new Material group

It seem to be all is office or Head office requirement

My suggestion go with Material group with single material type material type will be Consumable if you have there or create it

    material group will be like

    1) NON-NETWORK-NONT

    2) OFFICE EQUIPMENT-OFFEQ

    3)SUPPLIES-SUPPL

    4) STATIONARY-SATION

    5) ID CARD HOLDER-ID CARD

As I read your requirement, that is a hierarchical categorisation i.e. not distict material group type definition but level 1 has level 2 options below it etc. etc, in which case I'd suggest Product Hierarchy is definitely the best standard method.

In the IMG: Logistics General \ Mat. Master \ Settings for key fields \ data relevant for SD (ignore the fact it says SD!) \ Define Product Hierarchies

On the material this categorisation is shown in the Basic Data view, General data section (towards bottom right).

    Regards,

    Nick
