Unable to install BPC Client

Former Member

only on one hardware platform are we experiencing an issue

All other platforms the end user can successfully install the BPC client 7.5.

On this platform we've had to start IE as an admin which allowed us to download and install the Active X controls. Upon installation of the client when prompted for credentials, we entered the end users credentials and have had a successful install.

My next step was to uninstall the software and reinstall it as the end user to see if I could get another successful install but now I receive an error on the first window "Client Installtion" that states:

"YOU DO NOT HAVE THE AUTHORITY TO INSTALL THE PLANNING AND CONSOLIDATION CLIENT"

I was able to log in to a separate system (different hardware platform) and have a successful install.

It seems like this issue is specific to this image but for the life of me I cannot figure out what it is.

Nothing shows in the event viewer

Active X controls are present and enabled (ClientDiag.OSoftDiagnostic, ClientInstallControl.OSoftInstall)

All prerequisites seem to be met and approved (software wise)

End user is approved on the server end

I've removed the installed active x controls and I'm back to square one where when I try to install the client as the end user (which our environment allows on all other machines but this one) I receive a message at the bottom in red which states"

Refresh this page and install the client software

Any help?

Hi,

You might try installing VC++ from the below link:

http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?amp;displaylang=en&id=14431

It is not mentioned as a prerequisite, but BPC needs this. We have faced this kind of problem earlier and worked upon successful installation of VC++.

Hope this helps.

This looks to have taken care of it - at least with the first test unit

I need to do it successfully a few more times to claim success but this is the best answer so far

As it turns out that redist package was not the fix - I realized that I have domain admin rights - when used across a normal users profile the install does not work - it still states that I have no authority to install
