Crystal Reports connecting to Oracle 10g Database

Has anyone else had this same issue with Crystal pulling up the list of tables in an oracle database.

http://www.toadworld.com/BLOGS/tabid/67/EntryId/135/Toad-Sometimes-Slow-on-Oracle-10g.aspx

Ever since our vendor upgraded to 10g it takes 8-15 minutes to pull up the list of tables. After the tables come up, pulling data comes back in a expected time frame.

This does not seem to be machine specific either.... XP and Windows 7. 64 and 32 bit all seem to react the same way.

Also, Same issue with Crystal 9 and 2008.

Also, I am not using the ODBC connection for these reports and I am using the Oracle Server Connection.

I can connect to SQL Plus in seconds and get data returned quickly. It just seems like Crystal has the issue. This database is a vendors, so I can not update the stats.

You can define setting for each Connection String(The name you give while creating new connection in Database Expert in CR Designer ).

If you are using same connection name for Oracle and some other database(by removing the old connection and create a new connection to another DB with same connection string in Windows ODBC),setting remain the same irrespective of DB(oracle or some other)

Setting is defined at rpt file level

    Hi Ryan Buntrock ,

Restricting the list to schema/user would help .Up to date statistics always helps...

1.Go to Database>Database Expert>Right click on the Connection >Select 'Options'

2.Give values for 'Table Name like' Or 'Owner Like' or for both.(Wild card also works)

    Thanks,
